Basil is the creator and founding director of masterworks. The multidisciplinary practice was launched in January 2013.

Basil studied Architecture at the Oxford School of Architecture, Oxford Brookes University from 1990 to 1997. He received the RIBA Dissertation Award in 1997 for his documentary thesis entitled ‘Commodity LA’. He attained his professional qualification (RIBA Part 3) from the Architectural Association, London in 1999. He is licensed to practice as an Architect by the Technical Chamber (TEE) in Greece.

Post education, Basil worked for five years at Pringle Richards Sharratt Architects in London where he held an Associate position. As project architect at the practice, his principal projects included the Sheffield Millennium Gallery and the Sheffield Winter Garden, which won several awards in 2003 including an RIBA award, a CIVIC Trust award and the Royal Fine Arts Commission ‘Jeu d’Espirit Building of the Year award’. He also took part in numerous shortlist competitions for the practice.

Basil was the Project Architect and Section Manager on the Olympic Stadium and Common Domain for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games on behalf of the Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. He was responsible for the coordination and operational planning of the Opening and Closing ceremonies, the Athletics and the Football finals.

He joined fluid architects as a Director in 2005. Basil’s contribution to the practice was unparalleled, contributing to the creation of a diverse portfolio of projects. His range of projects include, a multipurpose exhibition gallery, new build and refurbished residences and apartments, offices for high end commercial users and commercial ventures including bars, restaurants and shops.

Basil is a global event and sport expert providing consultancy services to several Organising Commitees including the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games (DCWG), the 2011 Arab Games held in Doha, Qatar, the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) and the annual Athens Classic Marathon (SEGAS).

Basil also holds a Directors Diploma as an Independent Film Director from The Hollywood Film School / Raindance, London. He has several scripts at various stages of development. He sketches and paints whenever he is inspired.
